Reading Town Sudbury
The Sudbury Maker Fest is an open celebration of community makers, artists, and groups who exercise the spirit of DIY and who want to share their knowledge and achievements with others. The term “Maker” was originally popularized by MakerMedia and MakerFaire, and “Maker Culture” has been growing all over the world ever since.
Maker culture focuses on learning by doing through trial and error, exploration, problem solving, and practical application. It stems from DIY culture, though the idea is more about DIT (doing-it-together) while learning and sharing with others. Maker culture appreciates creation over consumerism and it values health, sustainable development, environmentalism, and local culture.
Reading Town Ville Lecture will be showcasing local literary makers during the Sudbury Maker Fest. We will also be hosting a family story time at the TD Bank Tree House located on the second floor of the Science North. Registration is required. Story times are 10:00 a.m./11:00 a.m./12:00p.m./1:00 p.m. We will also have a live narration of Peter and the Wolf with a musical compliment by the Nickel City Wind Ensemble at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the foyer at Science North.
