Report: Evaluation
The conference received very positive response in the evaluations. Of 150 paid registrants, 100 submitted written evaluations. Of these, 80% gave the summit an overall rating of 8, 9 or 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being excellent), Participants were also asked to rate each of the sessions. The highest rated sessions were: “Civil Society and Reading: A Roundtable Discussion” (rated 8, 9 and 10 by 82% of those participating in the evaluation), “How to Destroy the Book” by Cory Doctorow (rated 8, 9 and 10 by 80% of those surveyed) and “The Role of Schools in Creating Lifelong Readers” (rated 8, 9 and 10 by 73%).
Participants were asked “What is the most important initiative that you might undertake as a result of this summit?” While there were many and varied responses there were a few trends along the lines of: “Joining a committee to move to the next steps of a national reading plan”, “Talk it up with everyone I know.” And “I will share ideas from the summit with library management and staff, and ask for feedback”.
